New Haven: Hooked On Profit- The Opioid Crisis & Mental Healthcare

December 21, 2017 at 6:00pm - 8pm

In 2016, over 64,000 people died of drug overdoses - a rate four times higher than the murder rate. These increases have come from heroin and opioid painkillers. In first six months of 2017 alone, Connecticut had 539 fatal overdoses and expects to see over 1,000 by year’s end. The corporate industries and politicians that run our healthcare system, Big Pharma, Health Insurance and Prisons are killing us. But we will not keep dying in silence. Building a People’s Movement that fights back to protect, support and keep each other alive is the only way to fight back against this system.

On Thursday October, 21st, PSL will host a public meeting on overdose prevention education, harm reduction and access to recovery and mental health care. Learn what is happening on the ground and how we are building a people’s movement to fight this unjust, fatal system. Join us!
