The corrupt U.S. election system: Can it be fixed?

In schools, on TV and in newspapers, we are constantly reminded how lucky we are to live in the supposedly “freest, most democratic nation on Earth.” But in reality the U.S. electoral system is rigged to protect the interests of the bankers, super-rich and the capitalist system itself. And, contrary to the illusions of even some critics, this is nothing new. From the start, the “founding fathers” set up the system we live under to protect the wealthy and powerful. Today, the system is more corrupt and more dominated by big business than ever.

Join us for presentations and discussion on the history and present reality of the election system and what can be done about it.

El sistema corrupto electoral de EE.UU.: ¿Se puede arreglar?

En las escuelas, en la televisión y en los periódicos, se nos recuerda constantemente la suerte que tenemos de vivir en el supuestamente "más libre, la nación más democrática de la Tierra." Pero, en realidad, el sistema electoral estadounidense está manipulado para proteger los intereses de los banqueros, de los ricos y del mismo sistema capitalista.  Y contrariamente a las ilusiones de incluso algunos críticos, esto no es nada nuevo. Desde el principio, los "padres fundadores" establecieron el sistema en que vivimos para proteger a los ricos y poderosos. Hoy en día, el sistema es más corrupto y más dominado por las grandes empresas que nunca.
