FORUM: The Coup in Honduras, the U.S. & Latin American Sovereignty
Centro del Pueblo, 474 Valencia St., San Francisco (between 15th & 16th Sts.)
The newly-formed Bay Area Latin American Solidarity Coalition welcomes you to an important and informative forum, to hear activists on the popular movements, in Honduras against the rightwing coup, as well as the struggles in Haiti, Colombia, Venezuela, and continentwide.
It is vital that we, the people of the United States—all nationalities, citizen and non-citizen alike—concern ourselves with what is happening in Latin America and the Caribbean. From north to south, we all share the same needs and dreams of economic and social justice, and peace. But U.S. government policies of intervention abroad, and anti-worker policies here at home, create poverty, suffering and hardship for all peoples.
Zenaida Velázquez, founder, Committee of Disappeared Political Activists in Honduras
Pierre Labossiere, coordinator Haiti Action Committee
Cristina Gutiérrez, former member International Commission, Movimiento 19 de Abril of Colombia
Gloria La Riva, A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition, on the importance ALBA alliance
