Nathalie Hrizi, 28, is running for U.S. Congress, District 12. She is a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the Congressional candidate of the Peace and Freedom Party. The 12th Congressional District is in southern San Francisco and northern San Mateo counties. Hrizi, a graduate of San Francisco State University, is a bilingual elementary school teacher in San Francisco and a member of United Educators of San Francisco. Hrizi has been active in movements against war, racism and bigotry, and in support of immigrant rights, since joining the historic 1999 Seattle protests against the World Trade Organization. In 2001, she and other young activists organized the Committee for a New Colombia in solidarity with the people's struggle in that country. Hrizi is a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation's National Committee, and a regular contributor to Liberation newspaper and Socialism and Liberation magazine.
