Over the past four weeks, protests have erupted all over France after the Macron government announcement new increases in already exorbitant fuel prices in the country. However, after an entire presidency dedicated to neoliberal policies, Macron's recent fuel taxes were merely the straw that broke the camel's back. In this study group we will discuss why Macron's neoliberal orientation has granted him the nickname "the President of the Rich."
