Seattle: Noche Cubana!

July 23, 2017 at 6pm - 10pm

On July 26, 1953, Cuban revolutionaries began a movement which toppled the U.S. backed military dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. Today, Cuba's revolutionary social progress is an inspiration to poor and oppressed people everywhere who seek to build a better, more just world for all!

Join us in celebrating Cuban culture, history, and its inspiring revolution with homemade Cuban food, music, and poetry from local artists and activists.

$5-10 dollar donation comes with a plate of food and a soft drink ~ no one is turned away for lack of funds.

Parking and entry: from Airport way, turn east onto S. Horton into parking lot, turn left up the ramp to level 2 parking garage. Park in any “guest” or unmarked space. Walk back down ramp to ground floor elevator where a greeter will let you in.In 1959, young Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara defeated the hated, U.S.-backed military dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. It was a triumph for the Cuban people and for poor and oppressed people across the world. Now, Cuba's social progress stands as an inspiration to those who seek to build a better, more just world. (July 26 marks the attack on the Moncada Barracks, commemorated as the start of the Cuban Revolution.)
