Tell Gov. Cuomo: No Deal!
No Amazon Headquarters in Queens!
Cuomo is trying to bypass community consent and rob 3 billion of our tax dollars to hand over to a trillion dollar corporation to bring Amazon headquarters to Queens. An anti-worker corporation that is for sure going to displace Queens natives from the community!
Let's show him we will not accept Amazon in Queens!
No tax giveaways to Amazon. NYS and NYC government officials are making backroom deals with Amazon that bypass community consent. They are giving a $1.7 billion tax exemption to Amazon — a trillion-dollar corporation — to build a new headquarters in Long Island City in Queens. These funds should be used for the people of NYC to fund affordable housing, MTA public transit and education.
Protect and upgrade NYCHA — no to privatization. The largest public housing development — Queensbridge — is just a few blocks from the new Amazon site. That means new levels of police harassment, gentrification and a likely escalation of the drive to privatize NYCHA altogether. NYCHA residents are already fighting for $18 billion for major building repairs and upgrades. After decades of government neglect, tens of thousands live in roach- mold-, and asbestos-infested apartments, causing asthma and other health problems, with broken elevators that leave elderly and physically disabled people trapped inside. Instead of fulfilling their obligations to NYCHA residents, the City’s fake solution is to bring in for-profit companies, which is just a step towards privatization.
To resolve the housing crisis, seize empty units and build Affordable housing. An end to skyrocket rent increases throughout Queens, which has seen a 8.4% increase, the highest rent increase across the U.S. in 2018.
Stop union busting. End of union busting and workers abuse! Amazon has a long history of violating workers rights in order to extract millions of worker exploitation!
