Trump has kicked off his presidency by attacking workers, immigrants, health care, abortion, and heavily increasing war abroad. He has filled his cabinet with the rich, who are only concerned with profit. He promises to eliminate LGBTQ people from the 2020 census. 

New Mexico is ridden with high rates of child poverty and homelessness. Nearly half of homeless children are LGBTQ. No one is protecting these youth and there is no sanctuary for them. The vital support system for LGBTQ people, already minimal, will be continue to be aggressively attacked by the republicans and alt-right, who are clinging violently to their homophobic, transphobic, patriarchal, status quo. Now it is more important than ever to stand up and fight against these bigoted, oppressive forces--and we cannot look to the democrats to defend LGBTQ people. Only the workers protesting in the streets have brought tangible progress in the struggle for equality
