Davis Queer and Trans Solidarity: Clothing Swap and Slam

October 13, 2017 at 3pm - 6pm

Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation & the People's Congress of Resistance for a clothing swap and art slam to uplift and celebrate queer and transgender voices.

Queer and trans youth, particularly those of color, face poverty and homelessness to degrees far greater than the rest of the population. These communities struggle greatly with accessing what many take for granted: clothing that facilitates the expression of their identities. Recognizing this, the Party for Socialism and Liberation will be offering a space to exchange new and lightly worn clothing and accessories, as well as unused toiletries and hygiene products. We will also be hosting an art slam and open mic highlighting the work and voices of queer and trans members of our community in Davis.

We are looking for donations in the forms of clothing, toiletries, and hygiene products, and also offering a space for community organizations and leaders to share their voices and work, specifically highlighting the experiences of transgender individuals. If you are a part of an organization that would like to table at the event, please contact us.

The event will be held on the front lawn of a home, and we are working on establishing a wheelchair-friendly terrain. If you have any accessibility questions or concerns, please contact us below.

If you have any questions, would like to coordinate dropping off donations or participating in the event, or would like to share your work at the event, contact Oliver Harvey at (858) 261-9658/oliver.d.harvey@gmail.com.
